Quantum detectors for optical signals: Contact person: Alessandro Tredicucci Vittorio Giovannetti Recently, the maximum capacity for Gaussian optical communication channels has been theoretically established. However a practical communication strategy which is able to reach such maximum information transmission rate is not known. Our research is focused on the study of optimal information transmission protocols based only on combinations of “practical” devices such as beam splitters, phase shifters and photo-detectors.
