Modena - S3

S3 is located within the Scientific Campus of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, in the the Physics Building.

 

1) By plane. the closest airport is Bologna Airport "Guglielmo Marconi" (40 Km). 
From there you can take the Aerbus, a bus that runs directly to Modena every two hours. Stop at "via Vignolese/Università".
A bus service connects the airport to the railway station Bologna Centrale; from Bologna Centrale, follow step 2).

Taxi fare from airport to Modena is approx. € 75.00 (ask the taxi driver in advance).

 

2) By train. Take a look at the Trenitalia time schedule. There are bus services from the train Station in Modena to S3 (see Bus below).

 

3) By car (from the highway). Leave the highway A1 at exit "Modena sud". At the exit turn right and follow via Vignolese for about 10 km. You will pass a big crossroads with a roundabout (with a big "grape" glass statue in the middle); keep driving straight to the next traffic light. Here, turn right in via G. Campi. The entrance of the campus is about 100 m far on your right.

 

4) By bus. Bus services to S3: Three bus lines connect the F.S. train station with the Campus, located in via G. Campi: no. 7 (to "Polo Universitario"), no. 2 (to "T. Speri") and no. 9 (to "S. Donnino" or "S. Damaso").

Pisa - NEST


By air

The closest airport is Pisa Airport Galileo Galilei.
Presently there are daily flights from several Italian cities.
There are also direct flights from London, Paris, Berlin, Munich, Madrid, Manchester, Bruxelles, New York.
You can reach Pisa from other destinations with connecting flights via Roma Fiumicino.
The airport is connected to the city centre by train (from Pisa Aeroporto to Pisa Centrale) or by bus.

Other possibilities:
From Florence airport: Peretola airport has daily flights from several Italian and European cities.
It is connected to the town centre by train or by bus. The main railway station Firenze Santa Maria Novella is very close to the bus terminal. There are trains to Pisa (every 30’-60’) which take approx. 1 hour.

From Genova airport: reach the railway station Genova Piazza Principe, then take the train (about 2 hours).

From Roma Fiumicino airport: take the suburban train to Monterotondo/Fara Sabina (every 15’-30’) up to Roma Ostiense, where almost all trains of the Pisa-Roma line stop. There are also direct trains (every 30-60’) from Roma Termini o Roma Ostiense, which will take you to Pisa in approx 3 hours.


By train

The main railway station is Pisa Centrale. There are two smaller stations, Pisa San Rossore, in the north-west part of the town, where only a few regional trains stop and Pisa Aeroporto at the airport. Pisa can be reached from most Italian and European towns via Florence, Turin, Genoa or Rome. An online timetable of Italian Railways is available.

Please note that:
All tickets must be stamped BEFORE getting on the train at the small yellow stamping machines.

From the Airport:

The airport is very close to the town. Take a taxi (fare is approx. 10 Euros) or bus LAM ROSSA, then change at “Stazione FS” and take LAM VERDE. The bus stop is “S. Marta 1”. At the corner turn left in Via Garibaldi, after 10 mt. take the first on your right, Via degli Artigiani (go under the arch). The NEST is on your left.
If you take linea 13 the stop is “Borghetto 1”. Go back few mt. till Discesa Soarta; Piazza San Silvestro and NEST are in front of you.
Bus tickets can be bought BEFORE getting on the bus, at tobacconist's or newspapers stand, and then validated on board. You can even buy them on board.


From the Railway Station:

By bus: take bus LAM VERDE. The bus stop is “S. Marta 1”. At the corner turn left in Via Garibaldi, after 10 mt. take the first on your right, Via degli Artigiani (go under the arch). The NEST is on your left.

By taxi: fare is approx. 5 Euros.

Walking: 20’-25’. Straight ahead in Viale Gramsci, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and Corso Italia). At the end of Corso Italia cross the “Ponte di Mezzo” bridge, then turn right and follow the river (Lungarno Mediceo). Then take Discesa Soarta on the left after the “Ponte della Fortezza” bridge. You will find Piazza San Silvestro and NEST in front of you.


By car:

If arriving by the Highway Firenze-Pisa “Autostrada A11-E76” or Genova-Rosignano “Autostrada A12-E80”. Exit at Pisa Nord and go on Strada Statale n.1 Aurelia for 10 Km. At the fifth traffic light, turn left: Lungarno Cosimo Primo dei Medici.
Pass under the railway.
At the traffic light, keep to the right and continue straight ahead.
At the roundabout go straight on and continue along: Lungarno Ranieri Simonelli, Lungarno Antonio Pacinotti, Lungarno Mediceo, Lungarno Bruno Buozzi for about 2 km (the Arno river is always on your right).
50 mt after the third bridge (Ponte della Fortezza which is on your right) turn left: Discesa Soarta; you are in Piazza San Silvestro. NEST Laboratory is in front of you.
NEST Laboratory has an inner car parking that our guests can use if authorized.
