- 06.05.2019 - Cnr-Nano at InnovAgorà, the first fair of Italian innovationA patent by Cnr-Nano and Scuola Normale Superiore will be presented at InnovAgorà, the first fair of Italian innovation promoted by MIUR - from Monday 6 to Wednesday 8 May, in Milan - to showcase the most promising technologies developed by Italian universities and research institutes ("Leonardo da Vinci" National Museum of Science and Technology, with teh perticipation of 48 universities and 13 research institutes). The patented device is named Braiker: it is a completely electric biosensor able to detect the presence of brain trauma by way of blood tests. The biosensor is as small as a chip and contains a series of nano-sensors that exploit the principles of nano-acoustics. They transmit acoustic waves that can detect a particular molecule, the glia fibrillary acid protein whose abnormal presence characterizes the circulating blood in subjects who have suffered of severe or mild brain trauma. This technology may replace extremely expensive and time-consuming examinations, such as MRI and CT. The patent was filed in January this year by Matteo Agostini, a Scuola Normale research fellow and Marco Cecchini, a researcher at the Nano Institute of the CNR. .
